My first entry

O.K after many years of reading many other quilters' blog, I have truly been entertained, inspired, and reconfirm my love all things homemade. Yes, I prescribe to the idea that handmade things are better in quality. I have finally found the courage to share my quilting journey.

I first started sewing when my husband and I bought our first house and realize how expensive curtain/drapes were. I have always been fascinated with how things are put together and what I saw was simply. I quickly master curtains and move one to clothing which didn't turn out so great. Clothing are definitely a challenge to me. I have always loved quilts, I love the combination of fabric to create a timeless design. I love the practicality of quilts, its thin enough to still use in the summer and warm enough for the winter. I learn about quilts from books, internet and talking with quilters at the fabric stores. My first few quilts were done by hand because doing it by machine was more intimidating than hand quilting but it took a long time and my fingers were taking a lot of abuse. After watching many youtube demonstration, I final attempt quilting with my sewing machine. I work out a few kinks and finally I can say I am proficient enough with it.

This was one of my first quilt that I quilted with a hoop. I was just happy I didn't get any blood on it. This was for my youngest daughter, I made this when I was pregnant with her. She is now 4 yrs old and she does not sleep without it and she even takes it with her to Pre-K for nap time. It makes me happy knowing she loves it so. The best thing about quilts in general is it gets softer after each wash so its nice and soft and warm.
My first attempt at doing applique and I also hand quilted this.
5 years of wear and tear and washing, this classic quilt is still holding up. You can say I have caught the quilting bug and still going. I have made at least 40-50 quilts in the past 6 yrs but most of them I have given most of them away to friends and family. I took a few of pics of the ones I have made so I can post of few of them from time to time. Until recently, I started charging for my quilts. I mostly do t-shirts quilts now.

Since my littlest one goes to school, I have more free time to spending time on my sewing projects. When all the kids get home, my quiet house breaks into chaos. There dinner to be made, homework to help out, bathes, storytime, and of course many, many, conversations on how their day went. Yes, I have the best job.

XOXO
